Frequently asked questions

What accommodation is available and how many people can stay?	La Forêt has two luxury cottages, The Lodge and The Hide, which are accessed via their own separate driveways guaranteeing privacy for each. The Lodge, designed for two adults to share, is the definition of spacious, rustic luxury. Nestled in native bush, within the valley of the Margaret River. Our second cabin, The Hide, is now available to book. Sleeping up to 4 people, it is a fairytale cottage, with bags of charm. It is an open plan design so made to share with only your closest people!
Do you have a minimum number of nights for a booking?	We have a two night minimum at all times, and a three night minimum for public holidays and at other peak times.
What are your payment terms?	A 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to the arrival date.
What are the check-in / check-out procedures?	A message detailing property access information will be sent out a few days prior to the start of your stay. Guests can self check-in from 3pm onwards on your arrival day. Departure time is by 10am on your final day.
Are you easy to find?	We have two sets of electric gates (one set for each house) accessed from Caves Road which is a very long road stretching from Dunsborough to Augusta. It can sometimes be a little tricky to find especially if you are arriving in the dark. However, with the Margaret River bridge as a landmark, the welcoming lantern lights on the gates and our detailed instructions, finding us should be straight forward.
What is your cancellation policy?	As a small, family run business each booking is very important to us. However, we understand that sometimes life gets in the way of your special getaway! Our policy is to offer a refund of any pre-paid amounts if cancelled within two weeks of your arrival date. However, we encourage you to reschedule your dates rather than cancel. We strive to be flexible in these matters.
Can we bring pets?	The property is home to a large number of native wildlife, some of which are endangered. For this reason, and due to the high quality of the fittings installed in the cabins, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pets.
Can we bring children?	La Forêt is principally an adult only retreat. Furthermore, the Margaret River runs through the property and is unfenced. The Lodge can accommodate a maximum of two adults and no children. The Hide has a king bed and two single beds. Kids are able to stay at The Hide by exception. Please get in touch to discuss.
Do we need to pay a security deposit?	We reserve the right to request a refundable security deposit of $500 from a nominated credit card on arrival.
Is there wifi and streaming services?	Complimentary fast speed wireless internet is provided for guest use. Note that this only works inside the cabins. Netflix, Prime Video and Binge streaming services are available for movies on our smart television. Megaboom Ultimate Ears wireless speakers are provided in the cabin through which to stream music controlled from your smart phone. The speakers are straight forward to connect via Bluetooth on your phone.
Do you provide a coffee machine?	Yes, your daily caffeine requirements are catered for with a Nespresso coffee pod machine as well as a variety of black and herbal teas. Complimentary Nespresso coffee pods and teas are provided.
How far are the nearest shops?	The property is located 7km from Margaret River town where all the major supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths and IGA) are to be found, as well as a large number restaurants and boutique shops.
Can we invite friends to the accommodation?	You are welcome to have day visitors to the cabin, but for insurance and security reasons additional overnight guests are not permitted. The cabins are designed to accommodate a maximum of 2 people. If you are planning to hold an elopement, intimate occasion or will be using our cabin as a preparation space prior to your wedding, please let us know beforehand. Please inform management in writing of any wedding vendors such as florists, hair/makeup stylists, photographers etc that will be visiting the property so that a parking plan can be organised to avoid damage to the vegetation around driveways.
Does the river flow all year round?	We are very lucky that a stretch of the Margaret River runs along the boundary of our property and is a special feature of our River Garden area. There is also a small winter creek that traverses the property and joins the main river at the south west corner of the block. In a typical year, these water courses hold flowing water from May to December each year. During peak winter, the Margaret River is a spectacular, raging river flowing rapidly past the River Garden. During peak summer and early Autumn the water disappears as the rains stop and the rocky river bed is made visible.
Is the accommodation non-smoking?	Absolutely no smoking is permitted inside or on the outdoor verandas of the cabins.
Do you have any promotions?	From time to time we like to offer special promotions to our guests, such as pay for three nights and enjoy a fourth night on us. These will be advertised on the Booking page. At all times, lengthier stays of 7 nights or longer attract a 10% discount.
Can I buy a gift voucher?	Absolutely. Contact us to arrange the details such as the dollar amount and the message you would like included. We will prepare the voucher and send it to you via email to print at your leisure.
Do you offer any add-on's?	Arrive to a kitchen fully stocked with locally sourced breakfast provisions, a bottle of chilled Margaret River bubbles, a private chef dining experience or pamper yourself with a spa treatment in the comfort of your cabin....we'd love to organise these optional extras for you, just say the word.
Is there much native wildlife to observe at La Forêt?	We are extremely lucky that an abundance of nocturnal marsupials inhabit the forest including rare species of phascogales, woylies, chuditches, micro bats as well as ringtail, brush tail and pygmy possums. They are nocturnal and may run across the roof and around the verandas at night. You may be lucky enough to observe them eating and playing in the trees at night. There is a torch in the cabin to help you spot them! We do ask that you please do not feed them because it encourages them to want to live and breed around the cottages. In addition, there are bandicoots, lizards, frogs, our resident kangaroo and beautiful native birds to spot.
Is La Forêt in a bush fire prone area?	Yes. In fact almost the whole of the South West of Western Australia is classified as a bush fire prone area. Luckily these unfortunate events are very rare and for most of the year are a low risk. We do ask that you observe our no naked flame policy (including candles) between October and end of April each year. In the unlikely event of an emergency, leave immediately. Contact us and we will organise alternative accommodation for you at our cost.
